Qualifications

I have been teaching Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level maths for 24 years. I have taught in secondary schools in both Tameside and Manchester and also delivered one to one maths tuition throughout this period.

I have a B.Sc honours degree in Mathematics (with Biology), an FE teaching qualification and a Secondary GTP teaching qualification.

I have been DBS checked  and can provide references from two of my previous schools.

History

From completing my degree to pursuing a career in teaching I raced as a semi-professional on the Great Britain National Cycling Squad. I have represented Great Britain at several World Championship events and also the 1998 Commonwealth Games. I have also gained gold medals at both World and National level over the last several years.

I still cycle for enjoyment and was also a member of Glossop Mountain Rescue Team for 5 years.

Experience

My main job is teaching Maths privately. I also worked for Derbyshire Education tutoring Maths, English and science for children who are not attending school.

From 2012 to 2013 I worked at Levenshulme High school, an 11-16 girls school in Manchester, where I taught Maths. Prior to this I worked at Burnage Media Arts College and Astley Sports College as a maths teacher where I was also the gifted and talented coordinator for the whole school. 

I also have specific experience of delivering A Level Maths tuition and one-one maths tuition in schools. In particular converting GCSE grade 3 students to grades 4 and 5 and also helping high attaining students to achieve a grade 9. 

I am also a  GCSE higher examiner for Edexcel.

Maths Tuition

All programmes of study are tailored towards the specific needs of each student. It may be confidence building, home schooling, exam preparation, practise and revision or maths 'booster' sessions. I offer a friendly, supportive and affordable service. I use an extensive selection of resources to make learning fun and accessible to all students, whatever their needs. I also offer a free  consultation prior to any tutoring sessions where I have the availability. I have the flexibility of tutoring both 'face to face' from my home and also online lessons using Zoom.
